This week, two more fathers have been tragically murdered by ICE. In Houston, ICE killed a 52-year-old small business owner whose son learned about his death on social media. A 26-year-old father of Maine was killed and dragged from his car, his 3-year-old daughter in the back seat, and his final words reported to be, “I tried to stop.” We are in contact with our immigration partners to plan a vigil and will release details as soon as we have them. That said, we know many are feeling called to action NOW.
There are many meaningful opportunities to channel this grief into action:
Email connect@nelakecounty-indivisible.org to learn more about our Tabling efforts where we educate our immigrant neighbors how to protect themselves with Know Your Rights information.
Attend a Whistle Kit event to help us put together kits for our Tabling Team and other Lake County organizations. The next scheduled event is this Saturday the 18th at 12pm. Click here to sign up.
Volunteer with Mano a Mano.Click hereto learn of their opportunities and fill out their application.
Connect with a member of Leadership Team to learn more about Rapid Response work in Lake County.
TALK ABOUT IT! Get support from like-minded folks. Honor the victims by saying their names. Mobilize more people to get into this important work, and invite them to join you at one of our next events.
NELC-Indivisible stands in solidarity with the families of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
