On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. His son learned of his death on a social media video, overhearing his father’s cries for help. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder. His final words were reportedly, “I tried to stop.”
Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. Join us for a vigil to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out.

It is important for our community to acknowledge that ICE terror continues. It is important that we recognize the harm ICE brings to all communities, particularly our Black and Brown family, friends, and neighbors. It is important that we not look away from this pain and grief. And it is important that we say their names – Lorenzo and Johan – even as the news suppresses their stories and tells lies.
This vigil is an opportunity to sit with this pain, together. Faith and community leaders will share words honoring the lives lost. As a collective, we will grieve. And we will call upon our local government to continue protecting us from the terror of ICE and our administration.
Join us Saturday, July 25 at 3pm at Waukegan City Hall as we honor Lorenzo and Johan and call for “Justice For All! ICE Out!”
